How to check your EPF (Provident Fund) balance online
Introduction
If you wish to know and check your total accumulated balance of provident fund then here’s is good news for you, EFPO Launched online inquiry platform in 2013 to check the provident fund balance in just a few minutes.
Earlier it was so complex and tedious that one had to make a lot of visits to the department with a bundle of forms and formalities to get simple information.
Here are 4 ways you can check your PF balance.
- EPF balance by missed call
- EPF balance by SMS
- EPF balance by e-passbook
- EPF balance by app
Check EPF Balance by missed call
One of the easiest and convenient ways to check your PF balance is via missed call, it is considered most convenient for all those who do not have computer literacy and also for those who do not have active internet connection.
For this purpose, you only need to have UAN number and valid KYC details like PAN or Aadhar number. Once you give a missed call to this number i.e. 01122901406 from your registered mobile number, you will receive an SMS that will list down details of EPF number, age, and name as per the EPF records.
Further, if your number is not registered then you will receive the SMS stating that the number is not registered.
Check EPF Balance via SMS
Another way to check the EPF balance is via SMS. EPFO has come up with a solution and started user-friendly SMS based balance-checking facility all you need is just one phone in hand and follow the simple steps:
- Use only UAN registered mobile number
- Send EPF balance SMS request to 7738299899
- Language must be English or Hindi
- EPFO on receiving the message will update member’s details like KYC, last contribution, along with the total EPF balance.
Note: All KYC like PAN, Aadhar card, and bank accounts details must be digitally approved.
Check EPF balance via online passbook
The other way for checking your EPF balance is by e-passbook, EPF passbook is similar to our bank account passbook which lists down all transactions with respect to your EPF account including both deposits and any withdrawals. It is available on EPO website. You just only need to enter the UAN number and password.
Following steps need to follow
- Visit www.epfindia.gov.in and click on our services”.
- Choose the option for employee
- Select member passbook from services column
- You then need to enter the 12 digit UAN number and password.
After logging into the site properly, you shall receive all the details online.
Check EPF Balance via Mobile app
EPFO has recently launched a mobile app through which one can check their EPF balance. The app can be downloaded manually from company official website and it is not available on Google play store. The mobile app currently in the market is only available for the Android version. However, it will soon launch mobile app for blackberry and IOS devices
Mobile app serves the purpose of both balance check as well as passbook statement.
Here are the steps for using the EPF mobile app:
- Open the mobile app on your phone and click member
- Under the Member option, select either balance or passbook and put twelve digit UAN number. Also, enter a registered mobile number for verification.
- If both Mobile number and UAN is verified, you will be updated EPF balance information along with personal details like your name, date of birth, Aadhar number, PAN for a tax deduction, last month EPF contribution etc.
- You can see your EPF statement for the last 7 months, by selecting “view passbook” option and get a detailed statement for the last 7 months.
